| Your burner’s firmware communicates with the media before the start of the burning process. The media is only accepted after the burner is able to compare it with the firmware list of known DVD media. Unfortunately, even new burners still come onto the market without a fully developed firmware. In that case, only a minimal amount of media is recognized and the burning speed is usually reduced. Older burners don’t often recognize newer and redeveloped media and may possibly start an incorrect burning process. In both cases, only regular updates to the burner’s firmware can help to keep the status current. The firmware can usually be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website and updated without problem. Even most manufacturers of stand-alone units offer this for your recorder. In this case, the new firmware is simply burned onto a CD and applied to updated to update the recorder. | |
